1: UK Tax Compliance
One simply can’t refuse to pay tax- unless one is unemployed. If you are earning a living, you have to pay tax. In the UK, the world of tax paying is very highly regulated and controlled.
Yet despite the enforced rules and regulations, estimates indicate that close to 10 billion pounds are lost each year by tax avoiding schemes. In a bid to tackle the tax evasion schemes, the HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has set up special units or watch dogs.
For the average person who works for someone else, it is almost impossible to evade taxes, unless you work for your brother. The majority of tax evaders are in the high income bracket or solo businesses. The lower working class people have their taxes deducted before they receive their salaries.
Recent laws in the UK have given the Tax inspectors more clout – just like the IRS in the USA. Any UK citizen, who has money outside of Britain, must declare it. Having a bank account in Pakistan or elsewhere is not illegal but not declaring overseas
2: Understanding Capital Gains Tax
When Are You Subject To CGT?
There are certain transactions involving assets for which you can expect to pay CGT. These may include selling an asset (or a part of one) or receiving payment for an asset that was damaged. CGT only plays a role when an asset is disposed of in some way. There are also circumstances involving the disposal of assets in which you're not liable to pay CGT. For example, if you sell your personal car, UK government gilts, your primary residence, or personal property worth less than £6,000 at the time of the transaction, CGT doesn't apply.
The amount of money you pay in CGT will depend largely upon how long you owned the asset before disposing of it. The longer you own the asset, the lower percentage CGT you'll have to pay.
Possible Exemptions
The government has allowed for a number of potential exemptions from CGT (again, consult your accountant regarding whether you qualify for these exemptions). For example, gifts made to charities are typically exempt. So
3: Texas Cost Of Living
Texas a.k.a the lone star state leads the nation in total productivity of beef, cotton and to no surprise oil. With more farmland than any other state in the union Texas is still one of the top in agriculture. Texas also being a leader in high technology and manufacturing makes it one of the most economically diverse places in the nation and one best places to seek work and boosts a second place ranking in the over all cost of living in the United States. It is obvious that Texas has a very huge and equally diverse job market but how does Texas stack up mortgage wise?I would say when comparing wage vs mortgage payment, Texas stacks up very well depending on where you choose to set up shop.
Whether you are looking for real estate in Austin, Houston, Dallas or San Antonio, the first thing to consider is this: Due to the excess of variable interest loans and the fact the many Americans are using their homes as credit cards the foreclosure rate nation wide will rise dramatically. The wind
4: Cost Of Living In California
California is one of the most expensive places to live in the
nation and ranked almost dead last at 49th in overall cost of living last year. It is easy to see why this is the case when you look at California's median housing income vs California's average wage. Research I have done indicates that median housing income (the hourly wage a person must earn working 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year to be able to afford housing) is around $23.00 per hour while the average income is around $14.00 per hour. Only Hawaii and Washington D.C rank higher in most expensive housing markets. This naturally makes Californian’s mostly renters or Oregonians.
Apartment rent ranges anywhere from $1100 to $3250 per month depending on where you decide to setup shop. You can forget about finding affordable rent in southern California. Anaheim is the least expensive at a little over $1200 per month, while Santa Monica is the most expensive at $3200.00 per month. California ranks number 3 in the cost of foo
